Most real estate agents don't understand or appreciate modern architecture - I do.

Growing up I spent a great deal of time at the idyllic modern estate of a well-known architect and professor of architecture at Cornell University. A mid-childhood move to the modernist enclave of Sarasota, Florida only deepend my appreciaiton for modern architecture and design. The town of Sarasota is know for its array of stunning mid-century (dubbed the Sarasota School of Architecture) and present day modernist homes and continues to inspire me with its promotion and preservation of modernist architecture.

I have first hand knowledge of the challenges of buying and selling modernist homes.

In 2007 my husband Alexandre and I decided to move to Chapel Hill to start our family. The year prior to moving we searched the area for modern homes but were unable to find anything that fit our needs and decided instead to rent while continuing our search. Over the course of the next year we spent weekends familiarizing ourselves with neighborhoods and existing (not for sale) modernist homes. From this experience I gained extensive knowledge regarding modernist architecture, architects, and neighborhoods of the Triangle.

In 2011 I put my knowledge and passion to work and began my career as a real estate agent, immediately focusing my efforts on representing buyers and sellers of modern homes. Real estate agents throughout the area routinely contact me when they have buyers looking for modern homes (which can greatly benefit my sellers) and seller considering listing modern homes (which can greatly benefit my buyers). At present I am the market leader in the sale of modernist homes throughout the Triangle.

Not only do I specialize in the marketing and sale of modernist homes, I live in one myself.

Finally, in 2009 we found the home we had been searching for. After some minor renovations we moved in and continue to enjoy the beautiful spaces, clean lines, abundant light and serene setting we fell in love with four years ago. I know from both personal and professional experience how to ensure that your objectives are met, whether buying or selling your home. For buyers; I can inform you of modern homes for sale (often before they come on the market!), guide you through the process of searching for, investigating/evaluating, financing, repairing, renovating, or even building your modern home. For sellers; I know the value of a well-designed modernist home and am able to effectively present this to buyers through creative marketing, custom staging, and personal and professional networking - services far beyond what is offered by most agents.

I am connected to a network of modernist architects and designers and am actively involved in the modernist and preservationist communities of the Triangle.

Whether buying, selling, building or just living in and maintaining a modernist home you will likely face challenges that are not easily addressed by professionals (real estate, building, financing or otherwise) who are familiar only with more traditional homes. As a real estate agent and homeowner I have made it my mission to seek out the many wonderful professionals that exist within our modernist community here in the Triangle. Through my many interactions and relationships within this community I have developed a strong working knowledge which architect, interior designer, builder, handyman, mortgage broker, or preservationist resource can best address the specific needs of you and your home. This ultimately saves my clients time, money, and a great deal of stress!

Please do not hesitate to contact me with any real estate related questions you may have - buying, selling, or otherwise. It would be my pleasure to assist you!

Emilie
